About Pilar

María del Pilar Montejo, MBA, M.S.

Pilar Montejo is an international business consultant, trainer, researcher, and instructional designer.

Pilar holds a Master degree in Business Administration from Iberoamerican University in Mexico, a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the Industrial University of Santander in Colombia, and a certificate in Training and Development and in Intercultural Training from Portland State University.

With over 16 years of entrepreneurship experience, Pilar founded her own international consulting business with focus on providing training and consulting services to universities, government agencies, and private enterprises. Her experience and expertise include Performance Management, Strategic Planning, Project Management, Quality Assurance, Customer Services, Training and Development, e-Learning Strategies, and Intercultural Communication.

Some of Pilar’s most recent work includes:
  • Intercultural Consultant for Prudential Insurance Relocation Services in Oregon, supporting and facilitating cultural adjustment
  • Special Projects Manager for the Intensive English Language Program (IELP) and the Office of International Affairs at Portland State University
  • Designing, developing,  and implementing projects at PSU focused on training programs, improving organizational processes, and providing greater care and services to students
  • Associate Vice President of Series at the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), Cascadia Chapter

Additionally, Pilar has volunteered in nonprofit and professional organizations for many years. Currently she supports the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication at Intercultural Communication Institute; she provides coaching to entrepreneurs through Micro-enterprise Development at Hacienda Community Development Corporation.

Pilar lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband Amad. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities including hiking and biking, zumba, reading, knitting, and having fun with her family and her granddaughter.
